Packing Pros: Fall Community Days at Food For Thought

This Fall, the Redland Foundation set out to make an impact in our bi-annual Community Day. Volunteers from Redland split into groups each Friday to take part in the Food For Thought PowerSack packing. Food For Thought is an organization that calls upon volunteers to help fight hunger in Denver. An organization that has the best interest of children in mind, Food For Thought continues to be an outlet for the Redland Foundation to help make a difference.

Forming an assembly line, our volunteers each grab a bag and begin to fill it with enough food to feed a family of four two meals. The assembly line continues until all the food is packed, the PowerSacks are then dispersed across 75 schools, benefitting up to 26,000 elementary students. The PowerSacks are also brought to eight Hogh Schools, and any leftovers are given to food pantries. This is an efficient, meaningful, and fun way to volunteer if you are looking to get involved.

Community days stem from when before the Foundation was founded, as Redland would ask associates to volunteer in the Spring and Fall each year. The Foundation is intent on continuing this tradition by partnering with other organizations that benefit children, so that we can make a larger impact.
